Learn more about our journey on the path to becoming a prestigious international event. The Youth Mining Camp Competition (YMCC) is a prestigious mining event organized by the Mining Engineering Student Association of UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta. This event serves as a platform for networking, enhancing competencies and knowledge about the mining industry, promoting healthy competition, and encouraging the development of future outstanding mining professionals.
YMCC is a biennial event that evolved from the Yogya Mining Competition, held on a provincial scale for eight consecutive years. Since 2016, YMCC has expanded nationally and has grown into an international-scale event.
The first YMCC was held in 2016 in Cangkringan, Sleman, Yogyakarta, with participation from 11 universities across Indonesia. The second YMCC in 2017 took place in Bayat, Klaten, with 19 universities participating under the theme "Get Involved, Get Resolved." This event also positively impacted local tourism development, including the construction of a monument at the entrance of Gunung Gajah Village.
The third YMCC in 2019 was hosted in Tinalah Village, Kulon Progo, introducing a new mining competition atmosphere where participants not only competed but also gained new knowledge in the fields of social, technological, and scientific aspects of mining under the theme "Discover The New Mining Era."
The fourth YMCC in 2021 was held in Bejiharjo Village, Karangmojo Sub-district, Gunung Kidul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, with the theme "Technological Innovation for Sustainable Mining Industry." Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, YMCC IV 2021 transitioned to a semi-international scale and implemented an online competition format. It continued to fulfill its main objectives and included beneficial activities such as constructing water flow installations to improve local community welfare.
The fifth YMCC in 2023 occurred in Pagerharjo Village, Samigaluh Sub-district, Kulon Progo Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, with the theme "Establishing Mining Revolution Through Human Resources Improvement." The fifth YMCC 2023 featured various mining-related competitions, knowledge-enhancing events, and social activities encapsulated in the YMCC Society Project, aimed at improving the welfare of the local community where the event was held.
